Vegetarian Sausage Crumbles

8 ounces tempeh, crumbled
1 tablespoon fennel seed
1½ teaspoons dried oregano
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon ground sage
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon canola oil

Place crumbled tempeh and 1 cup water in a pan. Bring to a simmer and cook until almost all the water is cooked off, about 15 minutes. Pour off any remaining water.

Add remaining ingredients and stir together with the tempeh. Cook 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly browned.
