nverlandYes, I know that most of you aren't interested. Then again, I am.
Jeannie called last night, squealing her lungs out. Davey is going to be racing at Meridian Speedway on August 26-27, driving the Pink Lady. (which meant nothing to you all yet) Needless to say, we shall be there.
So, in my search to find photos of said car, I found this - Davey Hamilton Apex Racing Go make a trip around. There are a few clips at the Hamilton Racing tab that you should see. Including Davey at OMC (Owyhee Motorcycle Club) earlier this year. My kids raced there, in go-karts, and my son ran the cars for a bit before quiting.
Well, shoot, I'm going to have to go through my photos to find one of her. (well, hell, never did find the photo)
In any case, Davey is a second generation driver from Meridian, Idaho. His father, Kenny, is the current promoter at Meridian Speedway and started Davey in go-karts when he was sold enough to get in one. Ken himself has raced at Indianapolis and continues to race locally, with an occasional trip to Arizona to run at Phoenix, and also to Carson City, Nevada. He set a new track record this year in Meridian in a sprint car. Davey's son, DJ, is now racing and plans to follow in Dad's footsteps.
Davey was in a major accident about 6 years ago, in Indianapolis, damaging his feet. It was felt the first few years following he'd never race again. However he came back last year and placed in the top 10 at the 500, and was there again this year. (which I didn't get to watch as it was Jewell's graduation).
A nice man, who remembers everyone, when my son-who was a huge fan when he was little-started racing go-karts at age 8, Davey came to one of the races and bumped into Bobby. A nice visit and why are YOU here later, he asked to see Bobby;s kart and wanted him to tell him all about it. Very much like the kid did to Davey at Meridian.
