I haven't done a Bert update for awhile, so i thought i would. a few things have changed.
he's doing fair. he has his good and bad, but the good are more. he's been puttering in his room, cleaning up and out and rearranging things a lot. some of the issues we had at the beginning are almost gone now, or are happening a lot less. His appetite is good, he's getting everything he needs. Sugar levels are off sometimes, not sure why but they can make huge swings. But other than the cough that's still a bit there, he's maintaining very well.
We fired the first home health people the first of the week. they were down to almost no help at all. when i called to tell them we were changing companies they were rude, "I suppose it's a whole bunch of things you didn't like about us," and of course she was right.
New home health came out today for intake. we liked them. she asked what we needed, offered things we hadn't thought of, will get things ordered for him, and can come up with alternate ideas for a few things he may need. And best yet-two of the physlcal therapy people that work part time for them are people that were part time at the center he was in. So he already knows them. So come monday we'll have a nurse three times a week, bath aides, therapy aides and anything else she can come up with for him.
Jewell was here today, she comes Fridays to do lunch and meds for me. She looks good, very. She stayed through the meeting with the person and also worked on the injured area a bunch for me. helped with a lot of it. I might survive til next week.
Jeannie and Matt were here tonight, she brought food for Bert's dinner for tomorrow. Said she'd do it again in a few days. That helps me so much. And he gets things that I can't or don't cook anymore. (today it was hominy and sausage)(recipe at end). And while they were here Wendy and Jerry came over with son Malaki. (W&J are very old friends of Jeannie's and Wendy has been my other daughter for more years than I can remember, since 1980). He helped Matt with the deck besides. Anyway, full house. And a very nice visit. We never have visitors.
Other than that, exhaustion reigns supreme. naps are to be taken this weekend and hoping to catch up a little on self care.
