carols_stuffAnd the end of the three day thing. Partly transfered from last year, I've added two photos to last years mix.
So we come to the end of that strange three day thing I started on Wednesday. We started with my grandfathers birthday, then my mothers birthday and today we have the sad to offset anything else.
Yes, I was named for my grandmother. She was a unique woman; honest, hardworking and loving. She laid hardwood floors, was a bus mechanic, and raised three children on her own. She never remarried, or even dated after my grandfather died. She survived a horrible bus crash that broke her breast plate, had the entire back of her hand ripped almost off and stitched back together without anesthetic (this was when I was 14 and sat with her in the ER while they did it)-only to leave for 10 days of camping as soon as they were done, broke her foot and still finished climbing the canyon face from where she was fishing, and came back from what the doctor told us would be a coma until she finally expired after a car accident.
Jeannie was a baby, around a year old, and I'd gone up the hill for dinner with Grandma and Bert (she made chili and corn bread). After dinner she wasn't feeling well and went to lay down. When Bert checked on her, she'd had a massive heart attack. She lived for another 6 months in and out of hospitals before dieing at home on August 3, 1975, just before dinner time. I'll miss her forever.
