Aug. 7th, 2008 07:21 amSo I'm in the kitchen making something to eat this morning and talking to Bert while I do it. I'm telling him about the USA article on The Road this morning. And how seeing a particular photo form the article struck me since that was exactly how I saw the Man in the book. For the record, Bert has read The Road. I asked him if he knew what I meant, and he said he had no idea. Asked if he had any idea what he thought the father would look like and he guessed at Ian McKellen. He didn't get the concept I was trying to make that Ian is too old to be this character. It led to more, and finally we got to the point of my asking-don't you see the characters when you read? Don't you have a mental image of what they look like? No, he has no idea what I'm talking about and thought that was a strange concept, to see the story as you read it.
So my question this morning is-is that strange? Am I odd that the books I read play out in my mind and I can see them? Or do others of you do that too?
